Workout Standards

Note: Athletes will use 1 Barbell and 2 Rowing machines for the duration of this workout.

The barbell can be loaded for the first opening weight at start of WOD 1a. Prior to each lift each person must state what weight they are about to attempt. Plates smaller than 0.75kg may not be used. There is no limit to the number of attempts or order of attempts between partners within the 6-minute time limit to find the max weight that you can both use to complete the complex.

The complex must be completed unbroken for the rep to count (i.e. the bar cannot be dropped). The athlete can rest at the top of the movement if needed. Please see below for detailed movement standards.

Your score for Workout 1A will be the max combined weight in Kilos that you both successfully lift in the complex.

At the 6 minute cut both athletes take a 1 minute break. A running clock must be used for the entire workout, parts a and b. Do NOT stop or reset the timer. As soon as the clock reaches 7 minutes WOD 1B will begin with the same running clock.

Both athletes must complete Workout 1B together at the same time on two seperate rowers. This is a 6 minute AMCAP (as many calories as possible).  Calories are recorded from the time it takes from 7:00 to time of completion at 13:00 on the clock.

Your score for Workout 1B will be the total combined calories that you both successfully row in 6 minutes.

Should the athletes choose to redo the workout, you must withdraw your scores for both 1A and 1B and resubmit both scores from the second attempt. You may not use your scores from different attempts.

Movement Standards

Cluster

This movement is a combination of a clean and a thruster. The barbell begins on the ground with your opening weight loaded on the bar. You then perform the first part of a clean. On the clean, you must achieve a full squat with hips below the top of the knees in the bottom position. Receiving the barbell in the bottom of the squat is not necessarily required; a power or split clean followed by a front squat is permitted. You finish the movement by moving from the bottom of the squat straight into a thruster. This is a standard barbell thruster in which the barbell moves from the bottom of the front squat to full lockout overhead. This must be done in a single, continuous movement; athlete cannot pause standing with the barbell in the front rack position before pressing it overhead. The barbell must come to a full lockout overhead with the hips, knees and arms fully extended, and the bar directly over the body. After achieving lockout and completed the rep, the athlete can rest the bar at any point i.e they can rest overhead, in the front rack position (on the way down) or at the hips ONLY.  To start the next rep the barbell must then touch the ground and go (TnG) straight into the next rep. This format continues until total repetitions are completed.

Calorie Row

The monitor of each rower must be set at 6:00 with the calories displayed at the beginning of the row. Each athlete must stay seated on the rower until the 6:00 is complete.

Video Submission Standards

Prior to starting, film the plates and barbell to be used so the loads can be seen clearly. All video submissions should be uncut and unedited in order to accurately display the performance. The clock showing the time will also need to be in the frame at all times.

It is your responsibility to shoot the video from an angle so all exercises can be clearly seen meeting the movement standards to allow for your video to be fairly assessed.

If you have your workout judged by a coach who has completed the CrossFit Judges Course then video submission is not required, in which case contact us to let us know the affiliate judge. However, we may still ask to check or watch any scores so keep hold of your video until the final leaderboard has been validated and finalised.

Good Luck, and any queries please contact us
