CrossFit is a Functional strength and conditioning program which promotes broad and general overall physical fitness. It achieves this by combining modalities from numerous disciplines such as athletics, weightlifting and gymnastics. It has been designed to optimize physical competence in each of the ten recognized fitness domains. They are Endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. Each participant will thus train to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges, and have exposure and competency in each of the three main metabolic pathways. It is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. Workouts and routines can be used for elderly individuals with heart disease to elite athletes. Jersey CrossFit scales loads and intensity, we do not change programs.
Each group training class offered on a particular day conducts the same workout of the day, or “WOD” – If you miss a morning class, you can pick up an evening class without missing a beat. Classes are lead by a head instructor; depending on class size, a second instructor may join to help ensure that each individual is getting sufficient level of instruction. Group Training Classes are infinitely scalable according to the needs, strengths, and weaknesses of each athlete. Additionally, select elements of each workout can be customized to suit the capabilities, fitness-level, or fitness goals of each attendee. CrossFit is a hybrid between personal training and group fitness, our prices are substantially higher than a regular, or “Globo-gym” and substantially lower than traditional Personal Training.
We aren’t ashamed of our prices because we know how much better our product is than that of a traditional gym membership. You are the only one that can decide if joining Jersey CrossFit Gym is for you, but let us add this- even at our highest level of membership, we are far cheaper than paying for a globo-gym contract, then hiring a personal trainer, buying nutrition books, and then paying for group classes.
And the punch line is this: we actually get you results. Remember- Anyone can do it, but not everyone is committed and ready to change their lives.
If you have never participated in CrossFit before, you may have a hard time understanding why it cost more. A regular gym will charge you around £60 a month. Jersey Crossfit can charge around £150 a month. It’s honestly like comparing apples to oranges. There really is no comparison other than the fitness aspect. The reason being two things… attention and results.
You will not be able to go to a regular gym, pay a monthly membership of £60 and receive personalized attention for each workout you complete. Neither will you be able to see the results you are wanting to see by spending the majority of your time running on a treadmill and waiting around for machines to be available to use. And let’s say that you choose to get a personal trainer at this regular gym. On the low end, personal trainers charge £40 a session. Using that trainer only four times a month puts you over the price of Jersey CrossFit’s monthly unlimited membership!
We have 30 days where you can attend one hour classes each month. Within that month you will pay roughly £5 a class. So what will you receive for £5 a class?
This is not just any personal trainer. At any CrossFit box you will be trained by a CrossFit Certified Coach. Coaches provide you with the knowledge you need to make CrossFit work best for you. They provide you with a Workout of the Day, make sure you are execute each movement properly and effectively and give you that extra motivation you need to make sure you are seeing the results you want.
Every day there is a new Workout of the Day (WOD) so your workouts will be new and fresh. The workouts are intense and fun and you will always be sweating! Some days are all about strength, other days will be higher in cardio, and some days we will do only power lifting movements. In addition to this, all the workouts are timed so you are completing these workouts at a higher rate of speed and intensity.
All of our WOD’s are logged on the whiteboard. This not only gives you a visual to want to improve your time, it also gives you motivation. No one wants to be the one with the lowest time or the one that says “QUIT” next to their name. In addition to the chalkboards, you will keep hold of your journal so you can record your personal time, including what weight you used, how many reps you completed, etc. This way when we re-visit these WOD’s, especially the “benchmark” workouts, you will be able to see your progression. Logging this information makes you personally accountable.
At Jersey CrossFit Gym we offer our members the opportunity to practice, practice and practice in our open gym sessions. Our community come and train to catch up on missed WODs, choose a workout that suits a weakness, or just practice technique and skills. These sessions will not be coached, but our coaches will be around to ensure a safe training environment and to offer advice, give tips and to provide encouragement. Open gym hours of operation will be ideal times to visit the Box, catch a glimpse of a WOD and to chat with other members of the Jersey CrossFit Gym community.
Without proper diet and nutrition, no workout program will ever be successful. Jersey Crossfit Gym provides free nutrition advice to all our athletes and offers seminars as part of the 28 Day Paleo Challenge run throughout the year.
No one likes to workout alone. Why? Because it gets boring, because you have no one to push you and (let’s be honest) there is reason for you to not show up if no one is expecting you. The community of athletes will be looking for you, looking for your name and time on the whiteboard. You are a part of each other’s motivation.
CrossFit is designed to get you in shape and get you in shape fast. It uses equipment and techniques that have been proven in professional sports organizations and kinesiology departments across the world. CrossFit does not allow a person to plateau because each day there is something new. It takes those exercises that already exist and combines them in a competitive atmosphere. These exercises partnered with speed, simply stated, produces results.
So the only question left is if the desire to learn new skills, find a new strength, and discover your ability to do stuff you were never able to do before, is worth £5 a day to you?
